Uthmani
عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ﴿١﴾
Transliteration
AAabasa watawalla
The Noble Quran
(The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away,
The Noble QuranUthmani
أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ ﴿٢﴾
Transliteration
An jaahu alaAAma
The Noble Quran
Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).

وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ ﴿٣﴾
Transliteration
Wama yudreeka laAAallahu yazzakka
The Noble Quran
But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)?
The Noble QuranUthmani
أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ ﴿٤﴾
Transliteration
Aw yaththakkaru fatanfaAAahu alththikra
The Noble Quran
Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him?
The Noble QuranUthmani
أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ﴿٥﴾
Transliteration
Amma mani istaghna
The Noble Quran
As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,
The Noble QuranUthmani
فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ ﴿٦﴾
Transliteration
Faanta lahu tasadda
The Noble Quran
To him you attend;
The Noble QuranUthmani
وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ ﴿٧﴾
Transliteration
Wama AAalayka alla yazzakka
The Noble Quran
What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah).

وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ ﴿٨﴾
Transliteration
Waamma man jaaka yasAAa
The Noble Quran
But as to him who came to you running.
The Noble QuranUthmani
وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ ﴿٩﴾
Transliteration
Wahuwa yakhsha
The Noble Quran
And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment),
The Noble QuranUthmani
فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ ﴿١٠﴾
Transliteration
Faanta AAanhu talahha
The Noble Quran
Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,
The Noble QuranUthmani
كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ ﴿١١﴾
Transliteration
Kalla innaha tathkiratun
The Noble Quran
Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition,
The Noble QuranUthmani
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ﴿١٢﴾
Transliteration
Faman shaa thakarahu
The Noble Quran
So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.
The Noble QuranUthmani
فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ ﴿١٣﴾
Transliteration
Fee suhufin mukarramatin
The Noble Quran
(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).
The Noble QuranUthmani
مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ ﴿١٤﴾
Transliteration
MarfooAAatin mutahharatin
The Noble Quran
Exalted (in dignity), purified,
The Noble QuranUthmani
بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ ﴿١٥﴾
Transliteration
Biaydee safaratin
The Noble Quran
In the hands of scribes (angels).
The Noble QuranUthmani
كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍ ﴿١٦﴾
Transliteration
Kiramin bararatin
The Noble Quran
Honourable and obedient.
The Noble QuranUthmani
قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ ﴿١٧﴾
Transliteration
Qutila alinsanu ma akfarahu
The Noble Quran
Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!
The Noble QuranUthmani
مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ﴿١٨﴾
Transliteration
Min ayyi shayin khalaqahu
The Noble Quran
From what thing did He create him?
The Noble QuranUthmani
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ ﴿١٩﴾
Transliteration
Min nutfatin khalaqahu faqaddarahu
The Noble Quran
From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion;
The Noble QuranUthmani
ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ ﴿٢٠﴾
Transliteration
Thumma alssabeela yassarahu
The Noble Quran
Then He makes the Path easy for him;
The Noble QuranUthmani
ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ ﴿٢١﴾
Transliteration
Thumma amatahu faaqbarahu
The Noble Quran
Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave;
The Noble QuranUthmani
ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ ﴿٢٢﴾
Transliteration
Thumma itha shaa ansharahu
The Noble Quran
Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).
The Noble QuranUthmani
كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ ﴿٢٣﴾
Transliteration
Kalla lamma yaqdi ma amarahu
The Noble Quran
Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.
The Noble QuranUthmani
فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ ﴿٢٤﴾
Transliteration
Falyanthuri alinsanu ila taAAamihi
The Noble Quran
Then let man look at his food,
The Noble QuranUthmani
أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا ﴿٢٥﴾
Transliteration
Anna sababna almaa sabban
The Noble Quran
That We pour forth water in abundance,
The Noble QuranUthmani
ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا ﴿٢٦﴾
Transliteration
Thumma shaqaqna alarda shaqqan
The Noble Quran
And We split the earth in clefts,
The Noble QuranUthmani
فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا ﴿٢٧﴾
Transliteration
Faanbatna feeha habban
The Noble Quran
And We cause therein the grain to grow,
The Noble QuranUthmani
وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا ﴿٢٨﴾
Transliteration
WaAAinaban waqadban
The Noble Quran
And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),
The Noble QuranUthmani
وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا ﴿٢٩﴾
Transliteration
Wazaytoonan wanakhlan
The Noble Quran
And olives and date-palms,
The Noble QuranUthmani
وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا ﴿٣٠﴾
Transliteration
Wahadaiqa ghulban
The Noble Quran
And gardens, dense with many trees,
The Noble QuranUthmani
وَفَٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا ﴿٣١﴾
Transliteration
Wafakihatan waabban
The Noble Quran
And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.),
The Noble QuranUthmani
مَّتَٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ ﴿٣٢﴾
Transliteration
MataAAan lakum walianAAamikum
The Noble Quran
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.
The Noble QuranUthmani
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ ﴿٣٣﴾
Transliteration
Faitha jaati alssakhkhatu
The Noble Quran
Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet),
The Noble QuranUthmani
يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ ﴿٣٤﴾
Transliteration
Yawma yafirru almaro min akheehi
The Noble Quran
That Day shall a man flee from his brother,
The Noble QuranUthmani
وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ ﴿٣٥﴾
Transliteration
Waommihi waabeehi
The Noble Quran
And from his mother and his father,
The Noble QuranUthmani
وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ ﴿٣٦﴾
Transliteration
Wasahibatihi wabaneehi
The Noble Quran
And from his wife and his children.
The Noble QuranUthmani
لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ ﴿٣٧﴾
Transliteration
Likulli imriin minhum yawmaithin shanun yughneehi
The Noble Quran
Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others.
The Noble QuranUthmani
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ ﴿٣٨﴾
Transliteration
Wujoohun yawmaithin musfiratun
The Noble Quran
Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism).
The Noble QuranUthmani
ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ ﴿٣٩﴾
Transliteration
Dahikatun mustabshiratun
The Noble Quran
Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).
The Noble QuranUthmani
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ ﴿٤٠﴾
Transliteration
Wawujoohun yawmaithin AAalayha ghabaratun
The Noble Quran
And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained;
The Noble QuranUthmani
تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ ﴿٤١﴾
Transliteration
Tarhaquha qataratun
The Noble Quran
Darkness will cover them,
The Noble QuranUthmani
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ ﴿٤٢﴾
Transliteration
Olaika humu alkafaratu alfajaratu
The Noble Quran
Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).
